自07/08年球季成为常规赛冠军后，中岸水手近年不断流失主力，常规赛排名更曾经急跌至第8位，不过近年战绩终于回稳，前季更历史性夺得季后赛冠军，同时在上季跻身4强，相信在教练菲尔摩斯继续留队的情况下，今季依然有能力挑战冠军宝座。

上季中岸未能长时间表现强势，主要是因为阵中缺乏具份量的前锋，虽然新借用的哥登堡前锋马历文尼，转会前未得到球会重用，但之前曾经在桑恩达取得大量入球，相信转往水平较低的澳职发展后，可以再次展现实力，解决中岸前线入球能力不足的问题。

其实中岸近年取得成功，主要因为是队中的主力阵容变动不大，今季得中场马高斯科利斯转投纽卡素喷射机影响较大，留队的队长约翰赫捷臣是马耳他国家队成员，中场金承大出道初期是南韩U23主力，只要重新提升火力，就有再次夺得季后赛冠军的可能性。

Team summary: Phil Moss will do well to repeat his team's performance of last season without some key performers who have now departed for pastures new. All Whites international, Michael McGlinchey, has decided to return to his homeland after his long, drawn out transfer to Wellington Phoenix finally cut through the red tape. Other notable departures include Ibini, Sterjovski and Flores - all attacking players.

Conclusion: Moss will hope that his off-season signings from Europe can hit the ground running. A lot of responsibility will fall on the broad shoulders of loanee, Malick Mane, who is likely to lead the line for the Mariners this season. Young Hungarian midfielder, Richard Vernes, is a like for like replacement for the departed Michael McGlinchey. The Mariners have proven in the past that you write them off at your own peril and perhaps they can sneak into the top 6. The big question mark lies as to whether they have the goals in them to make a run for the title.
