西悉尼流浪者在前季加入澳职，未有招揽太多星级球员，组军策略是罗致实力重于名气的球员，但仍能够在教练普波域的带领下，首个澳职球季已夺得常规赛冠军，而且连续2年跻身季后赛决赛，同时在亚冠杯取得绝佳的成绩，毫无疑问今季继续是澳职冠军热门之一。

虽然西悉尼有中场小野伸二、中场阿伦穆尔、普兰斯及后卫比奥甘离队，惟仍可以在亚冠杯踢出强劲的走势，上季在常规赛攻入8球的首席射手杜米祖历，更在亚冠杯有非常出现的表现，既然西悉尼比其他澳职球队更早进行备战，相信杜米祖历有机会在季初爆发。

另外，西悉尼的新球员相当有份量，包括有前华域克翼锋卡斯迪伦、前布雷西亚中场域陀沙巴、前城南一和后卫哈美尔及前拉素后卫艾迪历基，当中卡斯迪伦加盟后未有在亚冠杯淘汰赛阶段注册，意味可以得到充份休息，迎接个人首个澳职球季，扮演西悉尼争取入球的最大动力。

Team summary: The Wanderers will look to go one better this season following Grand Final heartbreak on consecutive occasions - not bad for a franchise that has only been in existence since 2012. What is all the more remarkable is that they are only the second A-League club ever to reach an Asian Champions League final, following Adelaide United's feat in 2008. Western Sydney will play Saudi outfit, Al Hilal, over 2 legs (home and away) to determine the champions of Asia. Tony Popovic should take great credit for building such a successful side from scratch. His managerial nous will be called upon again this season as the Wanderers are in somewhat of a transitional phase with so many key players leaving the club.

Conclusion: No less than 5 players from last season's starting XI have departed the club for one reason or another. The backbone of the team is still there - as has been most evident in the ACL with their excellent defensive displays. Western Sydney remain a very difficult team to break down. RBB favourite, Shinji Ono, has returned to his native Japan while Youssouf Hersi and Aaron Mooy have signed for fellow A-League clubs Perth Glory and Melbourne City, respectively. Along with veteran Dutch winger, Romeo Castelen, and versatile Nigerian defender, Seyi Adeleke (on loan from Lazio), a lot is expected of Brazilian marquee signing, Vitor Saba. Vitor has been brought in from Serie B club, Brescia, as a direct replacement for Ono. The early signs are that Saba will be a real hit this season and not just for his impressive beard. Perhaps it will be a case of third time lucky for the red and black!
