Varbergs vs Varnamo

Varberg take on the bottom last IFK Värnamo at their stadium “Påskbergsvallen”. I will continue the success to bet against Värnamo as long as they are losing. They lost against Sundsvall previously and have only managed to win 1 match and 2 draws in the opening 9 rounds. With only 5 goals scored they are currently showing the worst offense in the league.

Ahead of this match, Värnamo will be without key inner midfielder Abdul Khalili who is suspended. He is an important player for them and has started 8 of 9 matches. This will be a problem for the visitors who already sits in a difficult situation in the standings. Värnamo usually rely on their 4-5-1 formation, playing with a lone striker which can be an explanation to their poor offensive power.

Likely, Värnamo will be defensive minded versus Varberg since they are the highest scoring team in the league with 17 goals scored in 9 matches. At the same time, Varberg is the team that has allowed the most goals as well. They are an offensive team, who sometimes forgets the defensive parts of the game, in my eyes reminds me of Arsenal who plays good attacking wise but concedes more than they should to be that “real top team”. Nevertheless, Varberg are a skilful side at home, with 3 wins in 4 home games they are strong at Påskbergsvallen. No suspensions for the hosts Varberg, but have some minor injuries on rotation players, but no with real huge impact.

Summary wise, Varberg is a home side who likes to go forward and they should definitely cause troubles for the bottom team Värnamo who is wihout a key player Khalili on the midfield. Varberg won their last home match 5-1 versus Örgryte and showed class. I don’t expect that big numbers again but it should be a comfortable home win as the best offense takes on the relegation candidates at home field. Mjallby vs Halmstad BK

Mjällby host the newcomers Halmstad in a clash where we can put a little surprise label on the home team who currently sits on 5th place in the standings after 10 rounds which is the positive surprise this season so far. Halmstad on the other hand are the newcomers and are quite expectedly at the bottom of the table with only 1 win in the first 10 rounds. They know that if they want to survive they will eventually need to get three pointers as well. Mjällby are dreaming of an European spot if they can keep up their positive season.

The Halmstad coach confirmed that their important striker Gudjon Baldvinsson is doubtful ahead of tomorrow as he got a tackle and missed the last training ahead of the match. He has scored twice for Halmstad this season, which doesn’t sound like a lot but considering that the team has only scored 8 goals in 10 matches, he is a big player for them offensively. I would be surprised to see him play, but even if he does he won’t be 100% fit and likely will not manage full ninety minutes. Halmstad also sold their first keeper Karl-Johan Johnsson to NEC in Holland recently, and got a new first keeper in Stojan Lukic who came from Falkenberg, which in my eyes is a quality level down. I am not so sure he provides the same kind of confidence in the back end. Keepers are hard to replace. They have not won on any away game yet, with 2 draws and 3 losses.

The home team Mjällby is a tough team to beat at home. They are undefeated at home in 4 straight matches and has won three out of those, and also played 2-2 in their last home match versus title contenders Malmö FF, proving that they can produce and stand up against the big teams. Mjällby are solid, they got several players stepping up in good form lately, especially Kristian Haynes and Craig Henderson. Haynes has scored 6 goals from his midfield position which is tremendous. Markus Ekenberg is a reliable forward who can score as well, so generally things are looking good in Mjällby. No special missings for Mjällby as only Pär Ericsson and William Lenadersson are out, but they are not first choice material.

Summary wise this is a match where Mjällby should come out and dominate and create more. Halmstad on the other hand starting to get desperate to get some wins to avoid relegation, but without their most creative and most important striker in full health, I think they will struggle offensively. We should take into mind that Mjällby is a tough place to come to, even for the top teams. Expect a home win to a good value. Good luck
